Global Wind Power 2008 - China Wind Power Beijing is one of the most influential wind power expos in the country. These offerings also complete Alstoms portfolio of clean power solutions for the China market.

With over 25 years experience in developing wind as a reliable source of clean power gained through its acquisition of Ecotècnia in June 2007, Alstom is planning to bring its expertise and reputation for reliable technology to China. In line with its technology transfer policy, the company plans to introduce cutting-edge wind power technologies to local Chinese partners in the near future. Alstom also plans to establish local sourcing partnerships, to be developed alongside its Chinese partners and suppliers.

China is the worlds fastest growing wind power market, with an average annual growth rate of 56% over the past seven years thanks to preferential policies including the 11th Five Year Plan, which aims to increase installed capacity of wind power to 10 GW by 2010. With over 6 GW of wind energy capacity at the end of 2007, China is now in fifth place globally for installed wind energy capacity. According to the Chinese Renewable Energy Industry Association, total installed capacity of wind power will reach approximately 50 GW by 2015.
.
Chinas booming wind power market and favourable governmental support provide a good opportunity for Alstoms entry into the market, said Claude Burckbuchler, Alstom China President. We are pleased and proud to participate in the development of the Chinese wind power industry with our wide range of products, reliable technology and long-term expertise. We are committed to provide the best solutions to Chinese customers and are open to diversified cooperation with Chinese partners and suppliers.

Featuring high reliability, proven experience and patented technologies, Alstoms wind power product portfolio ranges from 1.67 to 3 MW turbines. They offer dynamic control of the active and reactive power, as well as supply continuity against voltage drop-downs. The complete range of Eco products combine variable rotor speeds, independent pitch control in each blade and adequate rotor size to offer higher energy production, smoother integration into the electrical grid, and greater value to our Customers. Alstoms new Eco 100 wind turbine features one of the largest rotors available today, designed to capture even greater amounts of wind on a given site: 100 m rotor diameter, capturing power of 3.0 MW. The first turbine model to be offered to our Chinese customers will be the ECO 80 1,67MW

Alstom is present throughout the entire wind value chain from site development, system design, key component design, all the way through to manufacturing, assembly, site installation, operation and maintenance, as well as turnkey construction of wind farms. So far, Alstom has equipped  more than 78 wind farms with 1,534 wind turbines in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Japan, India and Cuba.
