The German railway operator Veolia Verkehr has placed an order with Alstom in Salzgitter for about 30 CORADIA LINT 41 regional trains with a value of about 70 Mio Euro. The trains will be operated by the Veolia Verkehr holding company NordWestBahn on the railroad network Niers-Rhein-Emscher. The new CORADIA LINT will connect the cities Düsseldorf, Duesburg and Oberhausen with the surrounding area. They will be delivered in 2009.
The proven regional train family CORADIA LINT is our bestseller. With this order, we now sold over 425 trains, of which more than 300 already successfully serve. The NordWestBahn operates CORADIA LINT trains since 2000 and is therefore one of our first customers for this vehicle. With 90 ordered trains, Veolia Verkehr has confirmed the trust in our regional train family, says Dr. Martin Lange, CEO of Alstom in Salzgitter.
Since the launch of the first trains in the year 2000, CORADIA LINT has become one of the most popular regional trains. Alstom hast sold the trains in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark to public and private operators. Proven and particularly reliable, Coradia LINT trains have covered over 350 million kilometres in commercial service. So they guarantee the operator from the first day of service reliability
The two unit DMUs will be developed and manufactured in Alstom site in Salzgitter. They go up to 120 kilometres per hour and offer 136 seats. With a floor height of 780mm and movable steps they are perfectly adapted to the platform heights in the Niers-Rhein-Emscher network. The trains are economically equipped according the tender requirements and comply with modern criteria.
