projects

The Alstom foundation was created in
order to arouse and support initiatives in the field of
environmental protection. This year, the participation was even
greater than the first year: more than 70 projects from 32
countries were submitted to the Foundation.
The projects supported by the
Foundation in 2009-2010 are the following ones :
- Australia - creation of an eco-friendly
community hub for the citizens of Latrobe. - Brazil - development of an environmental
education curriculum in a school on the outskirts of Sao
Paulo. - Brazil - expansion programme of the
habitat for endangered species in Brazil’s Atlantic
forest. - Brazil - building of 23 low-cost
alternative sewage treatment centres. - China - contribution for building
China’s first national park in the Meili mountains. - India - providing water management to
communities in India’s Uttarakhand province. - India - programme to regenerate degraded
water and land in Sindhrot village. - Mali - expansion of a current plan to dig
15 more wells and plant 7,000 more trees each year in the
parched Dogon region. - Mexico - providing electricity through
construction of 18 hybrid wind and solar power systems for the
300 residents of Oaxaca. - Morocco - providing electricity for
homes, lighting for public services and a pumping station to
give access to water for 400 inhabitants in Essoau. - Sudan - environmental training to 1,000
women in West Omdurman. - Thailand - plantation of more than
100,000 trees. - Venezuela - help for the development of
the Warao native community.
