Alstom equips India with 76 MW Phatabyung hydropower project

Alstom in India today announced that it has won a contract worth approximately Rs 550 million by Lanco Infratech Limited to install a new hydro power plant in Indias northern region. The 76 MW Phatabyung Hydro Electric Project will be set up in the Uttarakhand region on the bank of Mandakini River, a tributary of river Alaknanda, one of the two headstreams of the Ganges, the largest river of the Indian subcontinent. This is the second time Alstom has joined hands with Lanco Infratech since winning the Teesta VI project in 2009. The plants electricity output will be connected to the countrys power grid.
The order entails end-to-end manufacturing of equipment at Alstom Hydros Vadodara facility in Gujarat State, one of the companys largest hydro equipment* manufacturing hubs worldwide.
Within the scope of this turnkey contract, Alstom Hydro will supply 2 x 38 MW Francis turbines and generators as well as the main inlet valves and control and protection systems.

Among the hydropower plants Alstom is currently installing in India are Teesta VI (4 x 125 MW Francis turbines and generators), Lower Jurala (6 x 40 MW Bulb turbines & generators), Chamera (3 x 77 MW Francis turbines and generators), Uri-II (4 x 60 MW Francis turbines), Chuzachen (2 x 55 MW Francis turbines and generators), Jorethang (2x50 MW Francis turbines and generators) and Subansiri (8 x 250 MW Francis turbines and generators)
