90 million hydropower contract with Endesa in Colombia

A consortium formed by Alstom and Schrader Camargo, a Colombian assembly company, have signed a contract with Emgesa a subsidiary of Endesa, and the first private operator in Colombia for the supply and assembly of electromechanical equipment for the 400 MW El Quimbo hydro power plant. The total value of the contract is approximately 115 million euros, of which Alstoms share is around 90 million euros.

Alstom is responsible for the delivery of the electromechanical equipment for the plants two 200 MW units. The main equipment for the project, Francis turbines and generators, will be manufactured at Alstoms Taubaté factory in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Commissioning of the first unit is planned for August 2014, and the second unit in October 2014. The project will be executed in the towns of El Agrado and Gigante, 50 km from the city of Neiva and around 350 km south of Bogota.
