Press release, 9 December 2010:

Alstom has signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with RusHydro JSC, Russias
largest power generation company, to find ways of cooperation in order to
benefit from the booming Russian hydropower industry. The agreement covers
three key directions of cooperation.

One of the areas of cooperation with RusHydro JSC concerns the creation
of one or more joint ventures for the construction of a hydropower
manufacturing facility based in Ufa City in the Republic
of Bashkortostan, Russia.

The facility will provide investment and employment opportunities for
the citizens of the Bashkortostan
Republic, producing
turbines, generators, auxiliary equipment, and hardware and software provided
by Alstom for the hydro power industry.

Another part of the agreement concerns the decision by Alstom and
RusHydro JSC to cooperate on a case-by-case basis over the development of
hydropower activities in the international market, as well as the decision by
the two companies to cooperate, again on a case-by-case basis, over R&D and
innovation.

Alstom will conduct a feasibility study for the reconstruction and
modernisation of the Kubanski cascade hydropower complex in southern Russia. The
Kubanski cascade project involves the rehabilitation of electromechanical
equipment as well as the installation of a new instrumentation & control
system and site security system. This follows an earlier MoU signed between the
two parties for this project in September 2010.

Although hydropower currently makes up only 5% of the countrys total
electricity supply, Russias
total installed capacity for hydropower amounts to 46 GW, the fifth largest in
the world a figure forecast to increase by nearly 60% over the next decade. Russia has 102
hydro power plants, and one pumped storage power plant, Zagorskaya. Russia has a
total installed base of 600 power plants of varying fuel types representing an
installed capacity of 220,000 MW, of which 20% hydro, 11% nuclear and 66%
thermal.
