Worth slightly less than 300 million

Following a contract signed with Keppel Merlimau Cogen Pte Ltd (KMC) to build a new 2x400 MW power plant in Singapore in October 2010, Alstom begins work on the second 400 MW unit, which is worth slightly less than 300 million.

KMC is a unit of Keppel Energy Pte Ltd, the energy generation division of Singapore-based Keppel Corporation Limited.

The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract includes the construction of two 400 MW gas-fired combined cycle units and the associated long-term service agreements (LTSA). Alstom is providing the entire plant and all associated equipment, including two GT26 gas turbines, two steam turbines and two heat recovery steam generators and the ALSPA Series 6 integrated control system. Alstoms combined cycle technology, based on its GT26 gas turbine, is among the most efficient and reliable technologies currently available.

When completed, the new power plant will increase the KMCs production capacity to 1,300 MW, highlighting KMCs role as one of Singapores main energy providers at around 10% of the countrys capacity for electricity generation.

Alstom also built KMCs existing 2x250 MW combined cycle power plant which entered commercial operation in 2007, on which Alstom is currently carrying out an 18-year operation and maintenance contract. This highlights the strength of Alstoms relationship with KMC.

This contract underlines Alstoms competitiveness in Asia for combined cycle power plants. said Marc Coxon, Senior Vice President Gas, Alstom Power. We have every intention of building on this success and continue implementing our growth strategy in Asia.
