Alstom to service and maintain Afin-Elbistan A thermal power plant in Turkey

Alstom Power in Turkey has been awarded a contract by Elektrik Üretim A.. (EÜA) for the repair, overhaul and rewind of the steam turbine generator of the Afin-Elbistan A thermal power plant unit 3. The contract for the 4 x 344 MW Afin-Elbistan A coal fired power plant, located in the southern part of the country, is valued at approximately 13 million.

The scope of the contract includes the rewinding of the rotor and stator of the unit 3 steam turbine generator as well as providing repair and major overhaul services for the steam turbines along with their spare parts. Service and maintenance works are expected to be completed by the end of 2013. The spare parts will be supplied by the manufacturing sites of Alstom in Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Commenting on the contract, Alstom Turkey Country President Adil Tekin said Alstom is the manufacturer of the original turbine generator groups installed at the Afin-Elbistan A thermal power plant. Our know-how and experience will enable us to complete this major overhaul and reconditioning work and ensure that unit 3 resumes power generation as quickly as possible. This contract strengthens our already strong relationship with EÜA.

Alstom has supplied key equipment for more than 50 % of Turkeys total of 53 GW installed power generation capacity. The thermal power plant projects completed by Alstom Power in Turkey include the turnkey 1200 MW Hamitabat combined cycle power plant, the turnkey 320 MW Çan lignite-fired power plant, as well as the steam turbines and generators for all units of the 630 MW Yataan, the 420 MW Yeniköy and the 630 MW Kemerköy lignite fired power plants.
