As part of a UK tour organised by the Electric Power Research Institute, a team from Eskom in South Africa last week took the opportunity to tour Alstom’s facilities in Rugby.
The Eskom team forms part of a newly created group researching Risk Based Inspection, with the main purpose of their visit being to meet up with UK power companies and discuss asset management best practice.
During their Alstom visit, the visitors were provided with a short introduction to the UK business, an insight into an Alstom study completed for Eskom on the subject of Operational and Risk Management followed by a guided tour around the Rugby Factory and the Thermal Transverse Technologies Laboratory.
Alstom and Eskom have a historical working relationship in the power generation industry which runs back many decades and includes several prestigious projects.
