Alstom, through its unit in Taubaté, dedicated to manufacturing equipment for power generation, conducts, every year, the Formare, a qualification program for low-income youths. Today, Monday, the fourth class will be graduated, and the event will be attended by 19 students, including seven girls, showing that both the course and the market are increasingly diversified.

Since 2008, the project has already qualified 72 High School students as operators for steelworks and industrial production. Classes are given by the employees of the plant itself, through a volunteering program that includes hands-on and theoretical activities. Students receive a technical certificate recognized by MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture) and can perform their roles at Alstom itself or other companies in the industry.

Formare is a project by Iochpe Foundation which, from partnerships with small and medium-sized companies, offers professional qualification courses for youths aged between 16 and 18. The courses provide initial education for introduction in the labor market, and last approximately one year.
