Alstom Grid wins subcontract with CYMI for around €17 million project to supply equipment for Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation

In March 2012, Alstom signed a subcontract with Spanish company CYMI (ACS Group), to supply and manufacture equipment for the Ethiopian Utility (EEPCO) as part of the Electricity Transmission System Improvement Project (ETSIP) in Ethiopia.

CYMI will supply and erect 6 x 230 kV substations for EEPCO. Alstom's part in this project is valued at nearly 50% of the total contract, positioning Alstom as a trusted partner in the project. Within the next 12 months, Alstom's dedicated on-site team will supply and install key equipment for CYMI at the project base in Ethiopia. A key factor in this project win is Alstom's global package approach, which includes a full equipment portfolio.

With over 20 years of experience in Ethiopia, Alstom is proud to continue to support the country's sustainable energy plans. In 2011, Alstom was awarded a contract by the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation to deliver two Greenfield air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substations, as well as the extension and refurbishment of nine existing AIS substations. Other projects include the Ashegoda Wind Farm Substation, completed in August 2011.
