On 23 June, eight Citadis trainsets came into commercial service in Rouen (France), in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract that the city entered into with Alstom in January 2010.

This is the first phase of the drive to gradually replace the old trainsets running on the tramway network. By the end of this year, all 27 of the trainsets provided for by the contract will be in operation. The new trainsets are being introduced to tackle the increase in traffic in the city and its suburbs: they will be able to carry 280 passengers each (100 more than the current ones), meaning an extra 40,000 passengers being able to use the network per day.
