Alstom UK Holdings Limited has been awarded re-certification to the world class ISO accredited Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme (CEMARS) standard by the Achilles carbon reduction programme for the year 2012-2013. Receiving this classification is a testament to Alstoms commitment to measure, manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a credible manner in the UK.

An independent audit was carried out at various UK sites verifying that greenhouse gas emissions were in compliance with the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2006, and that Alstom was committed to managing and reducing its emissions in respect of the operational activities of its organisation, including Alstom Power Limited, Alstom Transport, West Coast Traincare Limited, Alstom Pension Trust Limited, Alstom Limited, and Alstom Grid UK Ltd. It was concluded that an overall reduction of 12.9% in absolute scope 1 & 2 emissions had been achieved, as well as a significant reduction in emissions intensity; both based upon a rolling 5-year average.

Partaking in this certification aligns with Alstoms environmental policies to measure green house emissions, understand carbon liabilities and reduce emissions within the organisation.

Alstom has set the target to reduce green house gas emissions by 20% by 2015 (compared to 2008) and this certification shows that Alstom is actively taking the necessary steps to make this goal a reality.
