Alstom has unveiled its new mobile facility for transformer on-site repair, refurbishment, redesign and high voltage test in Jebel Ali, Dubai (UAE). It consists of a mobile enclosure to repair transformers including active parts in a controlled environment, advanced drying equipment and a container-sized high voltage testing module for diagnostic and test after repair. Large power transformers and special transformers of all type and origin, up to 400 kV, can now benefit on site from Alstoms service expertise. The mobile facility is dedicated to customers in the Near and Middle East as well as nearby regions.
The new facility helps customers reduce outage and down time compared to other options, while eliminating costs and risks associated with heavy transport. Supported by Alstoms power transformer know-how and experience, the mobile workshop and dedicated team offer an attractive alternative solution to fix transformer failure or poor performance issues.
Alstom has already received a first field repair order. PDO, Petroleum Development Oman, the foremost hydrocarbon exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman, accounting for more than 90% of the countrys crude-oil production, signed for a $1 million contract to rewind a rectifier transformer at site.
Hamed Heyhat, Alstoms Regional Managing Director for Grid Service said: Proximity is essential for ensuring optimal performance of our customers assets. Bringing the best of Alstom's technical competence on site, for a key asset like transformers, will deliver a quick and satisfactory response to customer needs in the region.
