Alstom Grid takes the stage at APEx 2013
Alstom was a platinum sponsor of the 2013 APEx (Association of Power Exchanges) conference, held in New York City, October 2931, and hosted by Regional Transmission Organisation (RTO), PJM.
For the first time, this years APEx conference included joint sessions with delegates from APEx and the GO 15. The GO 15, or Reliable and Sustainable Power Grids (previously VLPGO Very Large Power Grip Operations), includes 16 of the worlds largest grid operators such as ESKOM (South Africa), RTE (France) and China Southern Power Grid Co.
The convergence of GO 15 and APEx platforms was a significant step toward addressing common challenges faced by players throughout the electricity sector, as well as identifying potential solutions. In all, more than 130 corporate level decision makers attended, from transmission system operators to power exchanges.
During the APEx conference, Karim El Naggar, Alstom Grid Vice President Network Management Solutions (NMS), presented a keynote address entitled Technology + Collaboration for a Smarter, Sustainable Energy Market Environment. He was joined by Alstom Grids Eric Goutard, Market Management Systems Activity Director, and David Sun, Network Management Solutions Chief Scientist, who together, demonstrated Alstoms ability to bridge across the physical and financial energy domains. More precisely, they discussed how Alstom Grid technology, both hardware and software, can bring value to evolving energy markets.
Top of the list are Alstom Grids innovations in renewables integration, distributed energy resources and demand response systems, all essential to building smart grids worldwide. Beyond network management solutions, Alstoms leadership in power generation, transmission & distribution and transport provides a global view of the energy sector and its future.
