The Filborna Power Plant is Öresundskrafts new combined power and heating plant which converts sorted waste into valuable energy. The facility, which is Europes most modern, has been built in NSRs (Northwest Skånes Refuse Ltd) waste facility in Helsingborg and has been fully operational since late autumn 2012. The facility will use about 160 000 tonnes of waste, from the local region, per year and it is one of Öresundskrafts largest investments to date. The facility was inaugurated on Wednesday 13th March and Swedens Minister for Energy, Anna-Karin Hatt was in attendance, among others.

Alstom has delivered this highly effective flue-gas cleaning system based on their NID technology which reduces air emissions to a minimum. The flue-gass condensation heat therefore provides an energy boost which is recycled to Helsingborgs district heating system. Alstoms partner for the condensation section with accompanying heat pump has been Götaverken Miljö AB.

- We are very satisfied with Alstoms technology and the collaboration with Alstom during the projects implementation, says Jesper Baaring, Öresundskrafts Project Manager for the Filborna Plant.

- The delivery of this advanced flue-gas cleaning system for Filborna Power Plant has been challenging but it has gone according to schedule, says Mats Thimanson who is Alstoms Site Manager in Växjö.
