Alstom U.S. President Gauthier Receives Honorary Doctorate from his Alma Mater

Earlier this month, Alstom’s Pierre Gauthier, U.S. and Canada Country President, accepted an honorary honoris causa doctorate from his alma mater, École Polytechnique de Montréal in Montreal, Canada.  Pierre was presented with this prestigious honor by faculty in the presence of more than 2,000 people at the university’s 2013 graduation commencement ceremony.

University leaders recognized Mr. Gauthier for his outstanding performance as a leader, visionary and promoter of sustainable infrastructures that generate economic development and pave the way for a smarter, greener future.

Mr. Gauthier, who graduated in 1977 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, has spent almost 20 years with Alstom and has lead the company’s North American businesses since 2008.  In his role, Pierre is responsible for directing Alstom’s efforts to address the region’s energy and rail transportation challenges and lead the pursuit of new innovative technologies.  

The École Polytechnique de Montréal is affiliated with the Université de Montréal and ranks first in Canada for its range of engineering research.
