Alstom achieved an important milestone in its strategy to improve the renewable power generation in Latin America: the Alstom unit of Taubaté (São Paulo State, Brazil), centre of excellence in hydro electrical energy market, delivered at site the first equipment of Chaglla project, a hydro power plant under construction in Peru that will generate more than 456 MW of clean energy (two vertical Francis turbines of 225 MW each and one mini horizontal Francis Turbine of 6 MW).
The main power house stay ring and spiral case, unit #01 and #02, are already at site, whereas the distributor, runner and the generator stator, unit #01 and #02, are currently under manufacturing and assembly in Alstom Taubaté factory. Alstom is also developing the SCADA control system of Chaglla project, the digital system responsible for the automatic control of the power plant.
The commissioning of the hydro power plant is forecasted in 2015 and it will be the second largest one in Peru. Alstom will supply all the electromechanical equipment of the plant, electrical and mechanical auxiliary systems included. The scope take in also the power transformers and the switchyard equipment provided by Alstom Grid, the hydromechanical and lifting equipment, as well as the complete mini hydro power plant.
