Planning officers from Trafford Council have visited Carrington Power Station to see at first-hand how the development was progressing.

The team was given a comprehensive presentation by Alstom site manager Rainer Lueoend before embarking on a site tour.  They were shown the scale of the development from ground level and from elevated platforms next to the chimney stacks.

Trafford Council was a statutory consultee during the permitting stage for the power station and officers had examined the application in detail before making a recommendation to councillors.

Rob Haslam, Head of Planning Services at Trafford, said: It was interesting to see the partial construction of the power station at close quarters.  Its a big investment that has come to Trafford and the visit provided a real insight into the complexity of this development.

Trafford Councils Executive Councillor for Economic Growth and Planning, Michael Hyman said:  "I am delighted that this important investment in power generation, in Trafford, is continuing apace and that those Council Officers involved in the strategic planning of the borough have had an opportunity to see, first hand, what is involved with this project.  Sitting on the Carrington Power Local Liaison Group has kept me aware of the progress and of the good working relationship between main contractors and the local community".

We were delighted to host this visit to site and to show case our project, said Rainer.

Over the next few months, most of the external construction work will be complete and there will be very little outside activity.  So it was good timing for the planners to come along.
