The 2016 Olympic torch arrives today, August 3rd, in Rio de Janeiro. Part of its journey will be aboard a Citadis tram manufactured by Alstom.
Eduardo Paes, mayor of the city, will be the first to carry the torch today, not far from the Bossa Nova Mall. He will pass the torch to Rebecca Moares dos Santos, an elementary school student, who will run to the Santos Dummont tramway station.
An Alstom Citadis tram will then carry the Olympic flame to Cinelândia, where the rotation will continue with Renato Sorriso, a well-known street cleaner in Rio, taking over torch duties. Renato will light the first Olympic milestone in the city. The convoy will continue to the Municipal Theater, Samba City and will finally depart for Duque de Caxias.
