Alstom attends the 6th China (Xi’an) Intelligent Transportation Expo
Alstom showcased its excellent innovative technologies and vision for future mobility at the 6th China Intelligent Transportation Expo in Xi’an.
15 September 2022 – Alstom participated in the 6th China Intelligent Transportation Expo, held from 15 to 17 September in Xi’an, China. Together with its Chinese joint ventures, Alstom presented its cutting-edge technologies, leading expertise, strong urban mass transit capabilities, as well as its long-term commitment to the development of western China’s urban rail transit market.
During the three-day expo, Alstom presented its products and solutions while sharing its vision for sustainable green mobility. “Alstom is excited to be at this important industry platform. Alstom has contributed in the major rail transit projects in many parts of Western China with its joint ventures in Xi’an and Chengdu. During the expo, Alstom showcased the Coradia iLint, the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell passenger train. Specifically developed for use on non-electrified lines, it enables clean, sustainable train operation while maintaining high performance. The train features clean energy conversion, efficient energy supply and storage system combined with intelligent energy management. The train only emits steam and condensed water while operating with a low level of noise. Currently, 14 Coradia iLint trains are already in passenger service on the world’s first 100% hydrogen-powered line in Germany.
Visitors to the expo also learned more about Alstom’s Citadis low-floor tramway system. This green and innovative transport solution offers optimum on-board travel quality with exceptional passenger comfort that comes with double doors, large gangways and windows, a spacious interior with new ergonomic seats, air conditioning, video-surveillance, and passenger information systems. Citadis produces lower CO2 emissions and is already in use on Shanghai Songjiang lines 1 and 2, on Chengdu Rong’s Line 2 and will be put into use on the Dujiangyan Line.
As Alstom’s latest generation of the reliable and eco-friendly driverless technology, Innovia APM is the highlight at the expo. It is specially designed to serve airports and dense urban areas, providing fast, comfortable and convenient services for passengers within the city, to and from the airport or between airport terminals. At present, Alstom has already supplied or will supply APM systems for six major cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
Alstom also showcased another member of its driverless transit system technology, the Innovia monorail solution. This latest monorail development continues to bring futuristic aesthetics from previous models, while providing reliable services in urban environments. Designed to blend seamlessly into the urban environment, Alstom’s fully automated and driverless Innovia monorail systems provide an energy-efficient, comfortable, and cost-effective mobility solution, particularly suited for rapidly growing or dense cities. Alstom’s first monorail line in China, Wuhu Line 1 and 2 has already started operation.
During the expo, Alstom presented their in-house designed and manufactured components. This included the Dispen damper that improves passenger experience by optimising track friendliness and circuit breakers that improve train safety and reliability. Part of the Group’s core propulsion expertise, both product ranges are available for nearly all types of rolling stock.
At the event, Alstom also featured the 4ECA 2120 O-type three-phase asynchronous traction motor configured by Xi’an Alstom Yongji Electric Equipment Co., Ltd. (XAYEECO) for Nanjing Line 7. The motor adopts self-ventilating and cooling structure, which is also called a panda motor due to the design of the non-paint flange at both ends. All the types of Alstom Metropolis motors meet the highest environmental standards and are well suited to today’s eco-friendly concepts due to their low weight, optimised traction performance, high energy recovery and the motor keeps energy consumption low.
Present in China for over 60 years, Alstom participates in the full spectrum of China’s railway projects. Alstom in China now has a complete range of rolling stock (high-speed trains, railway passenger cars, locomotives, metros, automated people movers, monorails and trams), state-of-the-art components (traction systems, bogies, traction motors, dampers), customised services as well as infrastructure and signalling solutions.
Alstom in China has eleven joint ventures, eight wholly foreign-owned enterprises, and over 10,000 employees. Together, the joint ventures have delivered more than 6,000 railway passenger cars and 1,530 electric locomotives, more than 7,200 metro cars, over 800 monorail cars, 136 automated people mover cars, and 191 tram cars to China’s growing rail transit market as well as to overseas markets. In China, Alstom also provides customers with a wide range of services solutions, from heavy maintenance to modernisations, and currently has more than 3,200 metro cars under maintenance contracts. It is a major signalling supplier to the Chinese high-speed network, and through its joint ventures, its signalling systems and propulsion equipment are utilised in more than 100 urban mass transit lines.
