Alstom offers Citadis Classic™ light rail vehicles to customers wishing to operate articulated trams on long-existing tramway networks, in both inner cities and suburban areas. Citadis Classic has low or high floor short-sized vehicles, with coupling possibilities to increase capacity. Today, Citadis Classic runs especially in European countries like Germany, Austria, Sweden, in Turkey and in Australia.

High driving comfort thanks to pivoting bogies

Thanks to pivoting bogies, our trams fit perfectly existing network and smoothen line constraints, offering optimum driving comfort for drivers and passengers. They feature a modern, noise-optimised design and can be equipped with ODAS™ and COMPAS™, our smart state-of-the-art driver assistance solutions, detecting front obstacles and monitoring overspeed.

Larger transport capacity and improved passenger flow

Designed with passenger safety and comfort in mind, each of the new trams can transport over 200 passengers and has multi-purpose areas that offers ample space for strollers, bicycles, and wheelchairs. The wide, barrier-free entrance areas enable fast boarding while broad window strips running the length of the vehicle ensure that the passenger area is filled with natural light.

    With a length of 34 metres and a width of 2.30 metres, the new trams have a capacity of 200 passengers. For a comfortable and safe journey, the trams are air-conditioned and equipped with a dynamic passenger information system, Wi-Fi and video protection.

  • Citadis Classic tram for Gothenburg, Sweden

    Gothenburg transit authority purchased 80 Citadis Classic trams to further develop the city's 160-kilometre light rail transit system, the largest in Sweden. The trams are adapted to the existing light rail infrastructure and the Swedish weather conditions. The low-floor vehicles provide obstacle-free access to passengers including space for wheelchairs.

  • Citadis Classic tram for Magdeburg, Germany

    In June 2021, Magdeburg’s transport authority Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe, placed a first order for 35 vehicles and related spare parts and maintenance.
    The trams will feature a modern, noise-optimised design and be equipped with a state-of-the-art driver assistance solution.
