Alstom bags Lower Jurala Hydro Electric Project in Andhra

ALSTOM Projects India Limited
(APIL) today announced that it has won a contract worth Rs 460
crores (Euro 78 million) with Andhra Pradesh Power Generation
Corporation Limited (APGENCO) for a turnkey hydro electric
project to be built on
the river Krishna, 7.9 km
downstream of the existing Priyadarshini Jurala Dam near
Mulamalla village in Mahaboobnagar district, Andhra
Pradesh.
  Conceived to maximise power
production by using the discharges of the Priyadarshini Jurala
Dam as well as flood discharges during monsoon period, this
turnkey project will
increase power supply capacity in
the state of Andhra Pradesh. The contract includes the design,
manufacturing, supply, instalation, testing and commissioning
of 6 x 40 MW capacity bulb turbine generator units, along with
all associated auxiliary and ancillary equipment. The order
will be indigenously executed by Alstoms hydro facility
in Vadodara, with the project scheduled for completion in the
next five years.
