Consortium partners for the construction of Carrington Power Station, Alstom and DF, made a £500 donation to the Salford Lions Club as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting good causes within the local communities in which they operate.
Salford Lions Club is a voluntary organisation that supports a range of projects within its local community, raising funds for local community members and groups. Nationally, Lions Clubs organise fundraising events with every penny going direct to good causes.
Joanne Sheehan from DF said: We were pleased to provide funding, which went towards organising a party at the Angel Centre for the elderly and special needs community members.
Brett Allen incoming president of Salford Lions said: its great when donations arrive from a surprise source. Every penny counts and it was a fantastic event thanks to the money provided by Alstom and DF. The funds were used to provide Christmas lunch and entertainment for 52 elderly and special needs catered for by Andy and Eileen Wilson and staff from Creation Cafe at the Angel Centre. The money was also used to provide Christmas lunch for 30 homeless and vulnerable at St Pauls, Salford.
The Lions Club has 1.35m members worldwide with over 900 Lions Clubs base in the UK and Ireland.
